  • What's the best way to pack a trumpet for shipping?

TIPS FOR SECURELY PACKING A TRUMPET IN A CASE FOR SHIPPING

I’ve shipped and received hundreds of horns and many were shipped in cases. I have never had a horn damaged in shipping that was packed using the tips below. Others might have a different method but this has worked well for me. Posting this here so I can share it with sellers in the future.

First, put some packing material (peanuts, bubble wrap, paper) INSIDE the case to ensure the horn doesn’t jostle around inside the case during transit. This is the main cause of damage. There should be enough packing material to keep the horn from moving but not so much that you have to put pressure or force the case closed. If there are any loose items such as mouthpieces or mutes, those should be wrapped separately and placed securely inside or outside the case.

Use a sturdy box that is big enough to allow the case to be surrounded by at least two inches of packing material on ALL sides.

Use plenty of packing tape to seal the top, bottom, and edges of the box. Either write the word FRAGILE on multiple sides of the box or use stickers that say FRAGILE.

    Hope this helps!
